” Medusa was a priestess to the goddess Athena, the virgin goddess of wisdom and battle.
One requirement to be a priestess for Athena is that the young women should be a virgin and give their life to the goddess. One day, Poseidon (or Neptune), the God of the Sea and rival to Athena, saw Medusa and was mesmerized. But Medusa being a loyal priestess to the Goddess rejected him. And what does he do about it? Rape her of course! And decided to humiliate Athena by raping the priestess on the steps of Athena’s temple. Poseidon vanished after he was done and left Medusa vulnerable and weak.
Medusa prayed to Athena for guidance and forgiveness. After all, in those days, the gods claimed their mates as their partners forever, and Medusa was now Poseidon’s wife. Athena looked down in anger and cursed Medusa for betraying her. Medusa was sent to a faraway island and was cursed so that no man would want her. She was given cracked skin, madness, and her signature snake hair and stone eyes. Medusa was now a monster woman.”
Our pillar candles are for ornament purposes, however, if you wish to light them do not burn them for more than 4 hours at a time. If you decide to burn our candles please place them on a tray or a dish. Do not light the candle on the tablecloth as it can catch fire. Each of our candles is individually hand-poured in small batches. Each candle finish is completely unique and different. If you ordered two of the same one, they might not be the same, hand-made things can never be perfect, but they are beautifully imperfect. As handmade products, some imperfections may appear such as frosting as the wax is 100% natural, however, it does not affect the overall design and the usage of your candle.
As we make small batches, the colour of the candles may vary slightly. Some scents will also affect the colour as natural ingredients in fragrances are unstable. If you have any questions about colour or looking for a specific colour, please write to us and we will be happy to assist you.
FRAGRANCES: We use high-quality fragrance oils therefore, most of our candles have a strong scent throw, we use 6-10% of fragrance load for each candle.
WAX: Vegan-friendly, made with 100% soy wax and cotton wicks, ecological and cruelty-free. Clean burning.
Proper storage will keep your candle burning bright. Soy wax candles are very sensitive to heat and light. Store your candle in a cool, dark area. Avoid overly warm storage options, like over the stove or near a heat source. Always store candles upright.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before lighting.
Always place your candle on a flat surface, away from anything flammable.
Never leave your candle unattended when lit.
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Keep the candle out of direct sunlight.
